Chris founded Dr.Bobergs Skin Cancer Clinic in 2011. As one of New Zealand’s leading skin cancer experts he has been a strong advocate for skin cancer prevention and treatment.
Dr Chris Boberg is one of New Zealand’s leading skin cancer experts with extensive experience in key roles such as the co-chair of the Melanoma Network of New Zealand (Melnet http://www.melnet.org.nz ), RNZCGP delegate for NZ Skin Cancer Strategic Planning Group and conference convenor for the International NZ Melanoma Summits.
He is a fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practice (FRNZCGP) and President of the New Zealand Skin Cancer Doctors Society. https://www.nzscd.org.nz
Chris is a founder and director of SkinCheck, Northcote, Auckland holding qualifications in Advanced Dermoscopy from Graz University in Austria.
He has also attained professional diplomas in Advanced Skin Cancer Surgery, Dermoscopy and Management of skin cancers from University of Queensland. Chris has enjoyed and participated in many advanced courses and masterclasses in both skin cancer surgery and dermoscopy and is highly experienced in complex flaps.
Chris is an Affiliated Provider for Southern Cross – and he is highly passionate in finding melanomas at the very early survivable non-invasive stage with the aid of digital dermoscopy – “the stethoscope of the skin”.
Chris has a great sense of humour and positive outlook. He is passionate about teaching and mentoring to ensure that every doctor in New Zealand has the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of dermoscopy via his role in the NZ Skin Cancer Symposiums teaching team https://www.skincancersymposiums.com.
DR ANDREW MACGILL
BHB, MBChB, BSc (Hons)
Dr Andrew MacGill is a skin cancer expert trained in dermoscopy and is an affiliated provider for Southern Cross. Over the past 18 years he has diagnosed and removed hundreds of malignant melanomas and managed numerous other cutaneous malignancies.
Andrew is an expert dermoscopist. He gained postgraduate qualifications and recognition by participating and studying in the advanced dermoscopy immersion course at the Graz University in Austria – focusing on chaos and clues and modified pattern analysis. He has also undergone additional training in cutaneous surgery here in New Zealand and San Diego. He is highly experienced and meticulous with all forms of cutaneous surgery and has been using complex flaps and grafts for many years. Andrew is contracted to the Waitemata DHB to manage complex surgical cases. He is a regular contributor to the International Dermoscopy Society Discussion Forum and is a Full Member of the New Zealand Skin Cancer Doctors’ Society. Chris and Andrew regularly provide educational courses to other doctors here in New Zealand and overseas.
He thoroughly enjoys his work, and his patients sense this from his enthusiasm and warmth. Andrew takes pride in removing lesions with minimal discomfort and makes every effort to ensure the best possible cosmetic outcome. Patients often comment on his warm and friendly manner when helping patients feel at ease. His philosophy is that the greatest reward in medicine is the ongoing relationship with patients from all walks of life.
Andrew comes from a long line of medical professionals; his great-grandfather, grandfather (plus two of his grandfather’s brothers) and father were all GPs. His son Sam is now a junior doctor at Wellington Hospital.
DR MICHAEL ZHENG

Michael joined Skin Check at the start of the year, training and learning from Chris and Andrew while completing his advanced certificates and obtaining his Southern Cross Affiliation. He, like Chris and Andrew has come from a background in General Practice where he has worked for the past 5 years. He trained at the university of Auckland worked at North Shore and Auckland hospitals since graduating.
Michael is passionate about medicine and in particular Skin Cancer. It was his special interest while working as a GP and he has sought out the opportunity to work alongside Chris and Andrew to grow this into a full time pursuit. He is a fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP) and a member of the New Zealand Skin Cancer Doctors Society (NZSCDS).
He is now a partner at Skin Check on the North Shore of Auckland. He is an affiliated Southern Cross provider and splits his time working at Skin Check and Waitemata DHB training with specialists in the management of complex skin cancer surgery. Skin Check was a natural fit as it shares his values of patient care first, preventative medicine and having a strong foundation of Doctor/Patient trust. English is Michael’s first language but he can also converse in Mandarin and the Shanghai dialect.
Michael’s family came to New Zealand over 25 years ago and have made Auckland their home since. He lives on the North Shore with his wife (Starship PICU nurse), newborn son and two rescue dogs.

Jane is the most efficient administrator this side of the equator. Nothing, and we mean nothing, gets past her. SkinCheck is her ship and she is the Captain.
Rachel is the friendly voice on the end of the phone, making appointments and scheduling surgeries. When not at SkinCheck Rachel loves travelling about the world exploring.
Rachel is the Quiz Queen, sending us puzzles and riddles to keep our brains switched on.
Katy has been with SkinCheck for 10 years. She has a wealth of knowledge and expertise with both wound healing and optimising a great outcome post-surgery. Katy is part of the SkinCheck executive/governance team. When not at work Katy can be seen cruising with her husband in their 1963 Plymouth Signet VP200 Valiant!
Originally from Nottingham England, Dawn came to New Zealand in 1997 and SkinCheck hit the jackpot landing her! Proficient in theatre Dawn is also our medical supply procurement wizard.
Tracey has years of experience. Her role is not only assisting in theatre, but pre and post-op care of SkinCheck patients. Besides giving the best quality care, Tracey devotes her spare time to the SPCA and caring for her own animals, of which there are a many cats, chooks, ducks…..
We all benefit when she brings her free range eggs in for us.
Bronwyn assists the Doctors and Nurses with all forms of patient care. Bronwyn has a kind smile and a gentle manner.
Bronwyn loves travelling the world with her family, and working part-time at SkinCheck gives her the freedom to spend time with her young family.

Rose has many years of experience as a PACU Nurse. She has recently come back to her love of appearance medicine and enjoys the new advancements in this arena. As an anti-ageing expert, her passion lies in offering bespoke enhancements for her clientele.
Rose brings a smile with her wherever she goes and loves a good chat.
Rose has a busy young family with many after school activities.
Appearance Medicine Nurse and Beauty Therapist
So devoted to her craft as a Beauty Therapist, Avryl went on to train as a nurse (4 years no less!) to further enhance her skills and treatment options. She recognises that when patients are happy with their appearance they are more confident and productive in their lives.
Avryl works very hard for long periods of time and then flies off to exotic locations around the globe. Gathering up gorgeous life experiences.
Margarita was the first Beauty Therapist at SkinCheck and has a large and loyal clientele. She is a perfectionist and enjoys seeing the results of her highly skilled work. Margarita enjoys introducing new advancements in the field of aesthetics to her already wide range of skills.
Other than having hands that “Beautify” her fingers are “Green” often Wowing us with beautiful bouquets from her well-tended garden.
Too many years in the business to mention out loud. Leanne joined SkinCheck in 2019, bringing her wealth of knowledge and a hefty arsenal of equipment, to deliver the results you are looking for in your skin.
Leanne has a canny gift for discovering small BBC’s and melanomas and often brings a doctor into the consultation to review and advice. A perfect synergy.
Leanne’s hobby involves chasing little yellow balls around a tennis court!
